• 🌷 PROGRAMMING – THE ROSE WAY 🌷

At Plainland and Raceview Kindergarten and Child Care “Where we let children BE children”

At Plainland and Raceview Kindergarten and Child Care, we base all our programming, planning, documentation, and reflection on The ROSE Way and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

This unique approach might look a little different from what you’ve seen before because it’s designed to inspire authentic learning, curiosity, and joy.

🌷 What is The ROSE Way?

The ROSE Way is an inquiry-based framework that empowers educators and children to learn with and from one another.

Rather than following set recipes or activity pre-planed themes, The ROSE Way focuses on action-based research where educators observe, question, and respond to children’s play in meaningful ways.

At both centres, The ROSE Way helps us:

• Create child-led learning environments

• Support deep thinking and curiosity

• Foster authentic relationships between children, educators, and families

• Work toward exceeding practices within our early learning community

🌼 Our Philosophy in Action

We believe children are capable, competent, and confident learners who deserve time, space, and freedom to explore the world of learning around them.

Educators are viewed as researchers of play constantly reflecting, asking questions, and seeking to understand each child’s unique learning journey.

When children are respected and included in decisions about their experiences, they grow into confident learners perfectly reflecting our motto:

🦋“Where we let children BE children.”🦋

🔍 The Inquiry Focus

Each term, our educators develop a Research Focus that shapes the learning across all studios over ten weeks for each term.

This question becomes our lens guiding observations, play experiences, and intentional teaching moments.

Children are viewed as valued members of a learning community, so our documentation often celebrates group learning journeys as well as individual milestones.

Families are highly encouraged to share ideas, feedback, and stories related to the term’s inquiry helping us shape meaningful, responsive curriculum experiences.

📷 What to Expect

Daily Photos

Each day, educators share beautiful snapshots of children’s play and learning through the OWNA App.

These daily photo posts are a quick glimpse into your child’s day no lengthy text, just genuine moments of joy and discovery.

We encourage families to have face-to-face conversations with educators during drop-off and pick-up for deeper insight into their child’s learning.

Weekly Learning Threads

At the end of each week, every studio uploads a Weekly Learning Thread to OWNA, showcasing:

• Photos and children’s voices

• Educator reflections and insights

• Plans and provocations for continued exploration

💬 How We Share Learning with Families

Communication and collaboration are at the heart of what we do. Families can expect to see and be part of learning through:

• Daily photo feeds on OWNA

• Face-to-face conversations at drop-off and pick-up

• Documentation displays inside and outside studios

• Weekly Learning Threads shared online each Thursday/Friday for families

• Emerging Play Topics each Monday to families

• Summative Assessments in Terms 2 and Term 4

• Kindergarten Transition Statements for our Eucalyptus Studio learners for Term 4

The main role of a childcare professional is to ensure the children play and interact in a safe and healthy environment.

EARLY YEARS LEARNING FRAMEWORK (EYLF)

The Principles underpin practice that is focused on assisting all children to make progress in relation to the Learning Outcomes. Educators who are attuned to children’s thoughts and feelings, support the development of a strong sense of wellbeing. They positively interact with the young child in their learning.

1. Holistic Approaches

2. Responsiveness to children

3. Learning through Play

4. Intentional Teaching

5. Learning Environments

6. Cultural Competence

7. Continuity Of Learning and Transitions

8. Assessment for Learning

At Raceview Childcare & Kindergarten we meet each individual child’s needs. Engage and interact with children and families within our premises. We create meaningful learning within our environment.

Play allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. Play is important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them.
